Background of the Study
The issue of police reform in Nigeria has been a longstanding concern, particularly in terms of addressing police brutality, improving professionalism, and ensuring that law enforcement agencies protect citizens’ rights. During Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, several police reforms were introduced, including the restructuring of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the implementation of a new policing framework, and the establishment of measures aimed at enhancing the security of citizens while improving police-community relations.
Keffi, a town in Nasarawa State, has faced various security challenges, including issues related to policing, crime prevention, and community safety. Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on Muhammadu Buhari’s police reform policies and their impact in Keffi, Nasarawa State. The scope will cover both the qualitative and quantitative changes in law enforcement and security measures. The study will be limited to the reforms implemented between 2015 and 2023. Limitations may include challenges in obtaining comprehensive data on policing practices in Keffi.
